Inventory Process
Inventory Process
Several of the key bits of data are available from Eurostats for our European colleagues. Here data on economic activity, population, household size and transport stats can be sourced the web address for this is: http://ec.europa.eu/eurostat
You will need to contact sebastian.carney@grip.org.uk to get an email address that will permit you to save your data. This email address will include the name of your region. You will then be able to access it from http://webmail.grip.org.uk
Step 1: Get Registered!
The National Inventory produced by your government is the cornerstone of your inventory. This provides us with the emissions factors and the levels of emissions in your country, this is key to the process. It will appear like a daunting series of spreadsheets at first sight, but this will change. Your National Inventory can be sourced here
Step 2: Get your National Inventory
Step 3: Eurostats!
Step 4: Set-up Inventory account!
Now that you have the two key data sets for compiling a basic GRIP inventory you should set up an account. Type in your name and other details under the general information tab. Then go to save and insert your GRIP email address and password.
The title to step 5 is kind of self explanatory However we need to make sure that we are entering sensible data. You, yourselves, will know if any of the data is erroneous e.g. if eurostats says there are 500 people in your region and you believe there is 50,000 - then you need to check Now you have most of the basic data necessary you should visit the EPER for large emissions point sources.
Step 5: Start to Enter Data!
Its always nice to see how you are getting along, to see if what you have done has made any difference yet! So you should save your progress (MAKE SURE YOU DO SAVE, IF YOU CLOSE THE PAGE WITHOUT SAVING YOU WILL LOSE YOUR DATA)
Step 6: Save and Check!
Step 7: Export to Excel
The whole reason for us compiling the inventory together, rather than us providing you with one, is to improve the chances of you and your colleagues understanding its outputs. This is the key to the approach - we want you to understand and query the data. Here we will give you a tutorial of the data - and what it means.
Step 8: Understanding Results!
Once everything has been done (or in between if you wish) this will produce a page for excel that will maintain the colour coding. Excel is used as most people have it.
